LIMITED SEATING FOR THIS RARE EVENT: Bellydance Superstar: MORIA WORKSHOP & SHOW: DEC 5 & 6, 2010 Pontiac Michigan

WHAT SHE WILL TEACH:
On Saturday: Archetype.
How exciting is your performance? Do you
understand the artform of stage performance? This
workshop will focus on that. Details below. All skill
levels very welcome at this fascinating workshop
handpicked by Lana.
On Sunday: Serpentine & Tunisian
One part is to slither slowly like a snake. The other is
Tunisian style bellydance like you've never seen. All
skill levels will learn from this workshop.
The details
SATURDAY:
Archetype: Archetypes in the Dancer is a highly
visual and interactive presentation that explores the
Great Mother Archetype and demonstrates how she
uses her mercurial partner-in-crime, Trickster, to
form this world. You’ll learn why image-is-
everything, and how, once activated, these
archetypes enhance your creativity, choreography,
costuming, and your ability to bridge the gap
between you and your audience. By learning the
secret of how archetypes rise from inside your body
and transmit themselves non-verbally, you will also
learn how to make an audience automatically feel
every chill and thrill activated by you.
Taught in a PowerPoint forum utilizing both
discussion AND movement.
The details
SUNDAY:
Serpentine: A Serpentine is a study in the sultry
and strong movements that comprise slow tribal
dancing. In this workshop you will earn the flexibility
and strength required to make slow, fluid movements
that drip from combination to combination. Bellyrolls,
half-sided belly isolation, and reverse bellyrolls will
be featured as well as how to integrate these subtle
muscular isolations into movements that read
strongly on stage. Liquid arms and body flow, facial
and hand expression, as well as maintaining a strong
posture from the upper back are emphasized.
You will learn control and isolation while dancing with
the grace and strength required for slow
techniques. Visualize receiving movement through
one part of your body while keeping the audience’s
attention as you send it out to create expression
from your face through your fingertips.
Emphasis will be placed on laybacks, flexibility, and
some floor-work. Kneepads are recommended. All
levels are welcome.
Also Sunday: TUNISIAN
Tunisian is designed for the dancer who wants to
differentiate her dance and explore styles of
movement that utilize more complex rhythms and
high-energy combinations. Tunisian techniques
place a heavy emphasis on twisting, unique
posturing, and unexpected floor patterns. Moving
forward, backward, and up and down, you will learn
this intricate and unique form of ethnic dance and its
combinations as they apply to tribal-fusion
bellydance.
The focus will be on muscle conditioning for Tunisian
twisting, locking, dropping, and shimmying, as well as
intensive drills of Tunisian combinations for moving
and stationary applications. Folkloric and fresh,
sweaty and unique, Tunisian culminates in a tribal-
fusion choreography.
Dance shoes are recommended for Tunisian but not
required.
Muscle conditioning for Tunisian twisting, locking,
dropping, shimmying; and intensive drills of Tunisian
combinations both moving and stationary; and hour
three on Tunisian-fusion choreography.

WHO IS MORIA of the Bellydance Superstars?
See her on Youtube and you will be attached to the
screen for the hours.
World renown belly dancer, Moria Chappell,
graces stages around the globe bringing the
exquisite art of Tribal Fusion Bellydance to its
utmost in elegance, darkness and intensity of
expression. Creating a
mixture that is enchanting darkness, Moria
embodies the mythos of a modern industry and
a forgotten ancestry.
Her work is detailed and enigmatic hearlding
from a childhood of Bohemian upbringing
where value was placed on beauty and truth of
artistic expression.
“Her style has developed into something that
defies description. Lets just say that if Rachel
Brice is the snake-charmer, Moria has become
THE snake. Her movements are fast, accurate
and persice and her locks seem to freeze in
time...just as a snake before
attacking the next move. Simply mezmerizing!"
